Get ready for a fun and exciting year in second grade!
Reading
Students will learn about making predictions, connections, and inferences. They will become experts at recalling details and retelling stories. Students will explore the works of different authors as they take us on exciting adventures with new friends.
Math
Students will learn and practice many concepts over the year. We will continue to sharpen addition and subtraction skills as well as introduce multiplication and division. Students will learn more about time and money. Other concepts that will be introduced are probability, geometry, measurement, charts and graphs, problem solving, and even simple pre-algebra!
Language Arts
In second grade students will learn all about sentences, nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs. Students will have fun with compound words, contractions, synonyms, homonyms, and antonyms. Take a moment to read your child's journal from time to time, and watch as he grows as a writer. Along with journaling, students will be learning about the writing process as they write how to paragraphs, personal narratives, poetry, fairy tales, and more!
